Position Responsibilities:
This person is a self-starter who thinks creatively, thrives on challenging project-related work, and is dedicated to ensuring exceptionally precise, high quality results. An integral part of IntriMed’s development team, the tool maker brainstorms approaches to prototyping components, translates those components into volume production, and maintains production processes throughout the life of the product.
- Studies blueprints and specifications and plans sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies and assemblies for the production of high-tolerance medical components.
- Sets up and operates basic and computer numerically controls machine tools such as mills, lathes, grinders, EDM and machinist hand tools to shape parts to prescribed dimensions.
- Builds, assembles, and maintains stamping dies.
- Offers input into die design and part design.
- Conducts test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
- Ensures compliance with ISO standards and all applicable laws and regulations
Basic Qualifications:
- 2 years technical school, minimum 5 years experience in tool and die making.
- Experience assembling and maintaining high-tolerance progressive tooling.
- General knowledge of various tool steels and their application.
- Detailed knowledge of construction and maintenance of metal stamping dies, including progressive, compound, and transfer dies.
- Knowledge of jigs and fixtures, automated machinery and basic shop machine maintenance.
- Knowledge of tool design, including computer and hand-generated drawings.
- Knowledge of shop inspection procedures, mechanical, optical and computer assisted measuring equipment.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries.
- Math Skills: Strong math skills and problem solving ability.
- Reasoning Ability: Analytical skills necessary to maintain precision, high-speed progressive dies.
- Creative Thinking: Ability to develop, design or create new applications, ideas, relationships, processes or products.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with wire EDM strongly desired.
- Experience with mold making and over molding.
Physical Job Requirements:
- Proper lifting techniques required.
- Extended periods of standing may be required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on occasion.
- Work environment includes regular exposure to manufacturing areas that may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and hearing protection.

Shift: 1st but may have to be present or coordinate resolution of problems that may be initiated from or impacting operations on “off” shifts.
